About Sean

Sean McCormick is a television broadcaster, fundraiser and community arts organizer. He is now a candidate for Toronto City Council in Ward 19.

He’s running for Council to help change the tone at City Hall. He believes that too much partisan, left-wing, right-wing politics have resulted in City Council losing its way.

Sean would focus on the real issues facing real people who are living, working and building businesses. As a city councillor, he would pursue their issues with the same determination and energy he has brought to his professional career and community involvement.

Sports broadcaster for 15 years

Sean is familiar to sports fans as an anchor on Rogers Sportsnet in Toronto, hosting the daily show “Connected”. Sean pursued his career in sports broadcasting for 15 years, working in communities large and small across Canada. He launched his career by working his way through university, creating a small business to pay his expenses.

Fundraiser for children’s charities and hospitals

Sean’s passion for sports led to volunteering for charities that use athletics to support young people. He has worked with Right to Play, which helps children participate in sports, learn teamwork and improve their health.

In addition, he’s raised funds for St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto East General Hospital and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.

Founder of Queen West Musicfest

In 2008, Sean founded the Queen West Musicfest, a neighbourhood indie rock celebration in Trinity Bellwoods Park. All proceeds are donated to charity, and the event provides local bands with an opportunity to showcase their talents.

The festival has grown to become a major summer event with many local businesses taking part and drawing ever larger crowds each year.

With your help … Ward 19 Councilor

The success of Queen West Musicfest and the enthusiasm of local residents inspired Sean to become more deeply involved in his community by seeking election to City Council as the representative for Ward 19.

Together, with his wife, Jennifer Hedger, Sean makes his home in Ward 19.

If elected, he is determined to be a voice that speaks out for integrity, responsibility and efficiency. And he will speak proudly of the diverse population, thriving business community and creative vibe that make Ward 19 Toronto’s most dynamic and eclectic neighbourhood.
